China had excellent offence and defence, says Pinerua

The Chinese players executed their game plan against Venezuela very well, which resulted to a straight-set win

Tokyo, Japan, May 31, 2016 – China's plans worked well against Venezuela as they took a straight-set win to improve their win-loss record to 2-1.

China coach Xie Guochen: “We are happy to win. All the matches in this competition are important. Our intentions worked effectively. We wanted to understand them and then think about how to attack and defend them and we did. Our serves worked well today. This win will give confidence to our players so that they can continue to play well.”

China captain Jiao Shuai: “It was a good game for us. We focused on preparing for this match and I am glad it worked well.”

Venezuela coach Vincenzo Nacci: “It was a difficult match for us. China are strong as all of the other teams here. Our service errors gave China the advantage and our counter-attack was not good. We have to work harder.”

Venezuela captain Kervin Pinerua: “It was a tough match for us. Today, China were excellent at blocking, defence and service. We could not play our volleyball today. We made many mistakes and that is why we lost.”
