The FIVB Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament will take place in Japan and doubles as the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament. The best ranked Asian team and the top three ranked teams will qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. If an Asian team is ranked among the top three, then the next ranked team will be qualified.
The first Men's World Olympic Qualification tournament doubles as the Olympic Qualification Tournament for Asian teams and takes place in Japan from May 28 to June 5, 2016.
It is a round robin tournament: eight teams will compete across 28 games, with each country playing seven matches in as many days.
Throughout the tournament, there will be 2 days off, with no match taking place: Monday, May 30 and Thursday, June 3.
